Poetry

Spring 1

This term for our poetry we are looking at poems about the weather, especially those written by John Lyons and Shirley Hughes. We are using thesauruses to come up with some better words (synonyms) for rain and wet. We are writing our own concrete poems (poems in the shape of something) for the display outside the classroom.

Autumn 2

We are writing our own Christmas version of Murray Lachlan Young's poem 'Don't'.

We will be using contractions - two words joined together with an apostrophe for the missing letter eg. do not = don't.

We will be looking at synonyms - words that mean the same thing eg. put = lay, stick, drape.
