Nursery

Welcome to Our Nursery
Our Nursery provides a happy, caring and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore the world around them. We work closely alongside our Reception class to ensure a smooth and supportive early years journey for every child.

Nursery and Reception are led by Mrs Claypole, supported by Mrs Minnock, Mrs Shaw and Mrs Londgden, who work together to provide a consistent, nurturing approach across our Early Years setting.

In Nursery, we place great importance on the Prime Areas of Learning, which form the foundation for all future learning. Through play, routines and positive interactions, we support children’s communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development. These areas are at the heart of everything we do, helping children to build confidence, independence and secure relationships.

Alongside this, we begin to nurture a love of reading through shared stories, songs, rhymes and daily opportunities to enjoy books. Children are gently introduced to early number and mathematical thinking through play, such as counting, sorting, noticing patterns and exploring shape and measure in meaningful, hands-on ways.

Learning takes place through carefully planned play experiences that encourage curiosity, talk, movement and exploration. Our curriculum is underpinned by our school’s SHINE values, supporting children to develop kindness, resilience and a positive attitude to learning from the very start.

We believe that strong partnerships with families are vital. By working closely with parents and carers and valuing open communication, we ensure that every child feels supported, nurtured and empowered to thrive in their best interests.
