Our topic this half term is 'Marvellous Me'. We will be learning all about our selves and our families. We will be looking at how we have changed and celebrating how we are all special and unique.
Our focus this half term is becoming familiar with the class expectations and routines. The children will be encouraged to be as independent as they can be. They will learn where all of their belongings go and will be responsible for looking after their own things.
The children will develop their fine motor skills with lots of fun activities to get their hands ready for writing.
In phonics we will recap our phase 1 learning and then start to learn some letters and the sounds they represent.
In maths we will focus on numbers 1-5. We will learn to recognise the numerals and find lots of different ways to represent each number including how smaller numbers can be grouped to make bigger numbers and how bigger number can be partitioned to make smaller numbers. We will also begin to practice our subitising skills. Subitising is the ability to quickly recognise the amount of objects in a small group like the patterns on a dice.
