Letters and Sounds

Use your sound mat to tell your grown-up as many sounds as you can, as quickly as you can.

You will need paper and a pencil or a whiteboard and whiteboard marker. Can you change one sound in the word to make another real word?

Start with ‘sit’. How many words can you get in your list?

Play ‘guess who’.

With a grown-up, discuss the different characters in the book you have shared this week. Take turns to describe a character for the other person to guess. How many can you guess correctly?

Challenge: Can you write the character names down that you guess? Don't forget to use capital letters for names.

Play higher or lower.

Shuffle the number cards and place 5 face-down in a line. Turn over the first card. Do you think the next card will be higher (bigger) or lower (smaller)? Use your number line to check if you are right.

Choose a challenge from the home learning challenges grid.

Can you build a cosy reading den to share a story with a grown-up today?

Don't forget to practice your own reading books every day. You can have a look on Bug Club to find more books in your book band.
