This week we will be follow BBC Bitesize lessons for English. There are lots of activities for each day so complete as much or as little as you would like to do. The lessons follow on from each other each day so if you miss a day make sure to have a quick look at what the learning was the day before.

Use this link to access the full range of resources and support. There are videos to go with some of the tasks.

BBC English Monday 20.4.20

Activity 1 Favourite books

Write the names of the people you live with or your wider family and ask them what their favourite childhood books were. Next to each name, try to write the titles of their favourite books.

Activity 2 Using 'because' and 'when' in our writing

Complete the interactive activity practising finding and using these conjunctions.

Activity 3 How good are you at predicting?

There is a story called 'The Magic Faraway Tree'. Take a few minutes to think about the name of the story and discuss what you think it might be about with your family or those around you.

Using the sentence stems below, write some simple sentences about what you think the story will be about. Use 'because', 'if' and 'when' in your sentences.

I think _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

I hope _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

I wonder _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Remember to re-read what you write to check it makes sense.

This week we will be taking an opportunity to recap some of the skills we have previously learnt.

Today I would like you to log into Timestable Rockstars and practise your x2, x5 and x10 times tables.

How quickly can you answer each question? Don't forget you can challenge one of your friends to a battle!

Wider Curriculum (P.E.)

Captain Tom has become a national inspiration as he set himself a challenge to complete 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday which was last weekend. He has raised millions of pounds for charity. Watch this Newsround video for a little bit more information

Taking our inspiration from Captain Tom's challenge, what challenge could you set yourself to complete before the end of the week? It needs to be something that is achievable but not too easy. Some ideas could be:

  • How many times you can go up and down your stairs
  • How many laps you can complete of your garden or another area of your house
  • How many star jumps you can do

Feel free to email more ideas for me to add to the list for others in the class to use.
