The Magical Toy Box

The story book that I would like you to listen to today is called The Magical Toy Box by Melanie Joyce and James Newman Gray.  I would like you to listen to the story and while you are listening to it think about all the things that the toys do and why they do them.

After you have listened to the story, I would like you to talk about it with the adult that is working with you.

Did you enjoy the story?

Do you have a toy box?

Are there similar types of toys in your toy box?

What toys are different?

Counting Forwards and Backward in 10s

When we count we can count forward and backward in different number steps.  Today I would like you to look at counting in steps of 10.

Count forward in steps of 10 and see how far you get.  Can you now count backward in 10s?

  1. Which number is 10 less than 70?
  2. Which number is 10 less than 40?
  3. Which number is 10 less than 10?
  4. Which number is 10 more than 30?
  5. Which number is 10 more than 80?

Science

Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at the small creatures that you can find in your garden. A long time ago I use to have two giant African Land Snails, they were called Ant and Dec. These snails were larger than snails that you find in your garden. Watch the video, using this link.

Use the PowerPoint ‘All About Snails’ to find out more information about them. Then go into your garden and search for snails.  What can you find? How are they different?

Remember to wash your hands after you have touch the snails

I will have some printed snail booklets at school if you need to collect them.
