Letters and Sounds
Using your sound mat, can you tell your grown up all the sounds you know.
Play Simon Says: Listen to your grown-up’s instructions and try and follow them. Your grown-up will give instructions to follow in sound talk e.g. ‘touch your f-ee-t’, ‘stand u-p’ and ‘sit d-ow-n’. Now can you have a go at giving your grown-up instructions in sound talk?
Challenge: Can you write down some instructions for your grown-up to follow instead of telling them?
Choose a story that you don't read very often; this could be one of your own books or you could have a look of YouTube. Share the story with a grown up. Can you find out who the author and illustrator are? Can you follow the words as your grow-up reads it to you? What can you tell about the story from the pictures? What do you think might happen next?
Number hunt – Ask your grown up to hide your number cards around the room/house. How quickly can you find them all? Can you order them from 0-20? Why don't you time yourself and record how long it takes? You can try and beat your time next time you put them in order.
Challenge: Once you have put the cards in order, can you quickly say the number that is one more or one less? E.g. "What's one more than...?" "What's one less than...?"
Choose a challenge from the home learning challenges grid.
Don't forget to practice your own reading books every day. You can have a look on Bug Club to find more books in your book band.
