Letters and Sounds

Can you complete this phonics challenge? You can use your sound mat to help you with your writing.

Juniper Jupiter is a superhero looking for a sidekick. Can you share the first part of the story with your grown-up?

Listen up to where Juniper Jupiter decides to advertise for a sidekick (up to 2 minutes 5 seconds).

Can you talk to your grown-up about what you think a sidekick should be like?

This week we are thinking about subtraction or take away.

Have a go at answering the subtraction questions below by playing subtraction smash.

Grown-ups: For this activity you will need to roll some playdough into small balls. For each question support your child to count out the number of playdough balls they will need and then ‘smash’ how many are being taken away. Find the answer by counting how many un-smashed playdough balls there are left.

As a challenge, can you write the answer to each number sentence?

If you have no playdough you can still have a go at answering the subtraction questions by using other countable objects – just move the objects to the side as they are taken away from the whole.
