ST. MARTIN’S NEWS

18th July 2019

Good-bye and Good Luck

As we say a fond farewell to our Year 6 pupils, we wish them well.  We are sure that they are well prepared for their transition to secondary school, and wish them every success in whatever the future holds for them.

We also wish Mrs Connell every success with her future ventures, as she leaves St Martin’s to take up a position in a school out of the borough.

We will also be saying good-bye and good luck to our amazing apprentices: Mrs Poole, Miss Emerson and Miss Drury, and also Miss Pennells, who will be continuing with her teacher training having completed her placement at St Martin’s.  We hope everyone has a happy and successful future.

Award Winners

A huge well done to all of our children who received an annual award in school this yesterday.  As always, it is difficult for staff to choose these award winners from so many outstanding pupils!

Well done to everyone receiving their 100% attendance award.  This shows resilience and dedication to learning.

A special well done to Kristian for being the lucky winner of the Kindle Fire attendance prize in our attendance prize draw.

Year 5 Application to Secondary School Reminder

A reminder to all current Year 5 parent/carers.  All applications for secondary school need to be completed online via the Oldham council website.  This system will be open from 1st August and will close at 5pm on 31st October.  Please do not forget to apply to avoid not being allocated a school of your choice.

If you do not have access to the internet, there are computers in all Oldham libraries, where staff will be happy to help you.

School Dinners in September

Please note:

  • As from 1st September 2019, the Education Catering Service is increasing the cost of school meals to £2.30 per day/ £11.50 per week.

  • All children moving up to Year 3 after the summer break will no longer be eligible for free school meals under the government programme.

If you wish to change your child’s provision for lunch, either from packed lunches to school dinners, or school dinners to packed lunches, please let Miss Fitzgerald know in the school office, giving at least one week’s notice.  This will ensure that enough meals are made in the school kitchen, and also that you are not continuing to be charged for meals if you are now providing a packed lunch.  If the office is unaware of a meal change, you will be liable for paying for the dinners that have been provided for your child!

Thank you

School Uniform

Uniform is currently available from Debonair in Oldham.

We always look forward to seeing all of our pupils looking smart in their full school uniform in September.

Every child should be wearing:

Yellow polo shirt or white shirt

Green sweat shirt or cardigan

Grey shirt or trousers

Black or grey socks

Black school shoes (not trainers)

PE kits are also part of the uniform, and should consist of:
