Numbers up to 1000

We use lots of different ways to make numbers in Year 3.

We can use base 10 (top diagram). The squares equal 100, the sticks are 10 and the cubes are 1.

We can use part, part, whole (middle diagram) to split the number into its ones, tens, hundreds and thousands.

We can use a place value grid and counters (bottom diagram) to show the number of ones, tens, hundreds and thousands.
