Reading Books

The children absolutely love sharing their reading books in school. Reading packs, which contain a reading record, a reading at home information leaflet and two reading books, need to be brought to school every day.

Please try to share these books daily and write a short comment in your child’s reading record. In your child's reading record you will find some information on reading at home. If you have any questions please feel free to ask a member of the Reception team.

Reading books will be changed weekly leaving one familiar book and one new book. Keeping a familiar book is important as this helps us to become more aware of concepts of print such as the difference between letters, words and sentences, and helps us to build up our fluency skills when reading. In your child’s reading pack, you will also find high frequency words - these are the most common words you will come across when reading – please practice these every day with your child’s reading books.
