Reading packs, which contain a reading record and two reading books, need to be brought to school every day.
Please try to share these books daily and write a short comment in your child’s reading record; we are currently focusing on turning pages carefully and using pictures to help us tell the story and predict what might happen next. Reading books will be changed weekly leaving one familiar book and one new book. Keeping a familiar book is important as this helps us to become more aware of concepts of print such as the difference between letters, words and sentences, and helps us to build up our fluency skills when reading. In your child’s reading pack, you will also find high frequency words - these are the most common words you will come across when reading – you can practice these every day with your child’s reading books.
