Thursday

Hello year 2!

I hope you are all well.  Here are your learning activities for today. From next week there will be paper copies of the work sent out and interactive lessons for maths and english. Look out for a Parentmail later today with more details.

Remember if you have any questions please email me at year2@stmartinscofe.com and I will respond as quickly as I can.

English

As we are in Winter, we are going to start with some winter poetry.

  • Think about your five senses: see, hear, smell, taste, touch and list 5 things for each sense that is around you in winter. If you are finding it tricky, use the senses word mat to help you.

  • Choose two items (or more if you like!) from each sense and write an adjective (describing word) to describe it.

For example - bright snow, fluffy jumper, frosty grass

  • Record your ideas on the Winter Poem sheet to create your own Winter Poem.

The more details you include the more interesting your poem will be!

Maths

Have a look at these maths challenge cards. Read them carefully as some will ask you to add (+) numbers together and some will ask you to subtract (-) them. If you are finding them tricky to read, ask your adult to help you.

Reading

Log into Bug Club and check that your log in details still work at home. Choose one of your books to read and answer the questions/ activity for that book.

Your log in details are in the front of your green reading records in your reading packs. If you are having any difficulties, please email me at year2@stmartinscofe.com and I will try my best to help you sort out the problem.

Wider curriculum

Your task for today is to try and set up a space at home that you will be able to sit and do your home learning over the next few weeks.

Think about where this might be.

  • Is it somewhere quiet?
  • Is it somewhere you can leave your learning resources out ready for the next day?
