Top Tips for Home Learning

In Reception, a huge part of our learning takes place while we play. Please use this time to be part of your child's play; follow their lead; extend their ideas; talk about what you are doing.

Please share as many stories as you can each day; this is a big part of our Literacy Curriculum and is great for learning new language. In picture books, you can use the pictures to predict what might happen next,  play 'I spy' with a sound or a tricky word on each page, talk about new vocabulary or listen for rhyming words. You could share a longer story such as 'Winnie the Pooh' over a number a days and talk about what has happened in previous days before you continue.

You can find links to online resources for sharing a story on the online resources page.

We love dance breaks and exercise breaks in Reception and do at least one of these daily - it's important that we keep active whilst we have less opportunities to get out and about. We use a range of resources/songs linked to other areas of curriculum learning for our dance breaks. You can find additional links to online resources for keeping active on the online resources page.
