Listen to the short poems ‘Caterpillar’ and ‘Ladybird’ (from 2 minutes 40 seconds) again and identify the rhyming words.
You could underline the sounds that are the same in the rhyming words. Are the same letters used to make the sounds?
Today we are focusing on finding halves. Create your own ladybird template like the one below to help you find halves.
Remember, to find half of a number we have to share the total equally into 2. Collect some loose parts like counters, pieces of pasta, counting objects or make your own black circles to be spots.
You will need to share the ladybird’s spots equally onto the 2 wings and then count the spots on one wing to find half.E.g. find half of 6
