Welcome back everyone I hope you had a lovely Easter without eating too much chocolate eggs! We have lots to look forward to this half term including a new science topic - plants and a new curriculum topic looking at why people like to go to countries around the Mediterranean for their holidays. I hope you're all continuing reading lots and enjoying some time with your families whilst we're all home learning at the moment. Don't forget if you have any problems with the work you can always email me and I'll get back to as soon as I can.

This work has links across both your literacy and geography topic which means it needs to be written in your literacy book as neatly as possible. I suggest any notes or ideas can be written on another piece of paper so you can write it up in neat after you have completed your research. As you are choosing 4 countries this should take you until Friday to complete.

European countries around the Mediterranean Sea

Choose four countries in Europe to research that have a coast on the Mediterranean, for example you could choose Spain, France, Italy, Greece or Cyprus. Use an atlas or online atlas/information pages, maybe from the library and practise using the contents and index pages to find places.

Write facts in full sentences about the countries you have chosen. Aim to fill at least half a page with facts. Consider finding out: capital cities; population numbers; important towns or cities; rivers; mountain ranges; animals and wildlife in that country; the flag. This is a good opportunity for you to practise using a range of sentence types and conjunctions (and, but, because, when, if, as, while).

Think about all the things that make you an amazing, unique person to fill in the balloons either on the sheet if you have a printer or in your literacy book with a similar idea. You could think about the things you like to do, what makes you kind, who you like to help etc.
