English

This week we will be following the BBC Bitesize daily lessons on www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zntmxyc

Today's focus is writing sentences using capital letters, full stops and conjunctions (and, because and if)

There are 3 activities, you can choose to do as much or as little as you would like.

Start by watching the video about caterpillars on today's Bitesize lesson.

Activity 1: Writing sentences.

Watch the video about the life cycle of a caterpillar.

Write 6 sentences about the caterpillar using the words leaf, cocoon and wiggle. Remember to use capital letters and full stops in your sentences.

Activity 2: Let's pretend

In the song on the website the caterpillar was wriggling on the leaf, then was spinning in the cocoon and then the butterfly was flapping everywhere.

Imagine you are the caterpillar. Write a sentences for each of the three things you were doing - wriggling on a leaf, spinning in the cocoon and flapping everywhere as a butterfly.

Remember to use a capital letter and full stop at the start and end of you sentences. Try to use one of the conjunctions and, if and because.

For example I love crunching on these leaves because they are tasty.

Activity 3: Let's dance

In the song, there were different actions for the caterpillar and the butterfly. The people used their hands to make the movements of wiggle, spin and flap.

Try making a caterpillar dance using your whole body.

Once you've come up with your dance, write some sentences explaining some of the actions.

For example - Lie down on the floor and flap left and right like a flapping caterpillar. Spin round and round in a circle like a caterpillar in a cocoon.

Maths

Today's maths lesson focuses on ordering different lengths. You can find the video for the lesson Summer Week 2 lesson 2 on www.whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
