Letters and sounds

Today we are thinking about the digraph th. Watch the th video – can you blend the sounds to read the words? (You can mute the video if your child is ready to have a go without support).

Can you think of some words that have the th sound? You could try and remember some words from the video or think of your own.

You could draw some pictures or write a list.

Tuesday’s task: today, I would like you to write a description of your minibeast. We are thinking about what it looks like.

  • Is it big or small?
  • Does it have legs? How many?
  • Does it have wings?
  • Is it patterned or plain?

You could add labels to your drawing, descriptive captions or write sentences below. Don’t forget to use your sound mats to help you write the sounds you hear.

Can you create a picture using 2D shapes?

You could draw the shapes or you could cut shapes out of paper or card and then glue them to make a picture.

You could create a minibeast picture like the ones below or create whatever you would like.

While you are making your picture, talk to your grown-up about the shapes you are using. Why are you using those shapes?

E.g. I am using a circle for the head because heads are round.

Have a go at reading a book on Bug Club today. Can you complete a quiz?
