Tuesday

Today's learning is taken from BBC Bitesize. All of the learning, videos and activities can be found on www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/z7s22sg/year-2-and-p3-lessons.

English

Today's focus is to understand what comprehension is and be able to write sentences and answer questions based on what text you've read.

Start by reading through the 'Learn' section and watch the short videos.

Activity 1

Imagine you are introducing yourself on a TV show, the radio or a competition.

Write five sentences that you would say about yourself.

  • Make sure you use capital letters and punctuation correctly.
  • Try using the joining word and in a few of your sentences to add more detail.

Here is an example:
My name is Siobhan and I am six years old.
My birthday is in January.
I have a pet dog called Missy and I like taking it out for walks.
I like playing football and play as a goalkeeper for my school.
My favourite subject in school is French.

Activity 2

Watch the video and follow the story.

  • Write five sentences explaining what happened in the story.
  • Make sure you use capital letters and punctuation correctly.
  • Include the joining word and in each of your sentences to add extra detail.
  • Once you've finished your sentences, number them 1 - 5 to show the order that the events happened in.

Activity 3

  • Start by reading the story on page one, then try answering the questions on the right hand side.
  • Once you've finished, move on to the activity on page two.

If you're not able to print the worksheet, you can answer the questions on a piece of paper instead.
