Hello Year Four, I hope you are all ok. Your learning challenges for today are below. Please use the class email address (year4@stmartinscofe.com) if you have any questions about your learning or if you want to share anything you have learned at home. Keep shining!

English

Please look at the picture below, then choose some of the activities to do in your exercise book from school. You could share your learning with your teachers by asking a parent to help you send a picture of your learning to your class email address.

Story starter!

She knew that it hadn’t been a good idea to leave the tap running, but now she was starting to enjoy herself…

Sentence challenge!

Verbs are actions/doing words. Can you think of a verb that would match with the following nouns to describe what they are doing?

E.g. water – trickled

bath

turtle

water

sun

the girl

fish

plug

shower curtain

Can you put them into sentences?

Sick sentences!

These sentences are ‘sick’ and need your help to get better. Can you help?

The bath went through the water. It was a sunny day. The girl watched a turtle.

Question time!

Where did her journey begin?

Why was it ‘unexpected’?

Where will she go on her adventure?

What different things will she encounter?

How will she get back home?

How might she be feeling about the adventure?

What will her parents be thinking?

Would you like to go on an adventure like this? Perhaps you can write about it!

Perfect picture!

Can you draw another place she might visit on her adventure in the bath?

Maths

Curriculum - Geography 'Why should the rainforest be important to us all?'

  • Today we are going to explore the different layers of the rainforest
  • Have a look at the document below where you'll learn about the different rainforest layers
  • Watch the video for more information
  • Perhaps you could create a lift the flap book to illustrate the differing layers and what would be found in each layer
  • You might choose to draw a picture of the different rainforest layers
  • Maybe you could think about which animals live in each layer
  • Don't forget to ask an adult to share your learning with me by email - year4@stmartinscofe.com

What are the layers of the rainforest?

Go up and up from the forest floor, through the understory, right up to the canopy in this video about the layers of the rainforest
