Welcome to all our children and families, old and new. Here you will find all of the information you need in preparation for your child starting in the Reception Class at St Martin’s. This year, your teacher is Miss Fenlon and your TAs are Miss Coverdale and Miss Stubbs.
Outdoor learning and sensory/messy play are a big part of our curriculum as they help us to develop motor skills, creativity, problem solving and lots of other important skills. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather as we go outside every day – rain or shine. We are getting really good at putting aprons on when we need to but sometimes our uniforms will get dirty/wet – ask us about the marks and we can use them to help us tell you about our day.
We will be starting PE soon but will just be taking shoes and socks off so PE kits aren’t needed yet. If you have a PE kit already or change of clothes for your child they can be left in school and will be sent home at the end of the half term/when they have been used.
This half term we are learning all about ‘Marvellous Me’ and we will be focussing on developing our independence and getting to know routines and expectations. In Reception we are responsible for our own jumpers/cardigans and coats but sometimes these do wander off so please make sure all uniform has names in. In Maths we will be learning all about the numbers 1- 5 and in Literacy we will be learning to recognise and write out name and sharing lots of stories.
Thank you from all the Reception Team.
